loxapine for schizophrenia

Is loxapine a good drug for schizophrenia?

Yes, if it works, it is an excellent agent to control symptoms of schizophrenia; it is often given in combination with benztropine to prevent side effects. The drug is usually taken twice a day and works immediately. It does have two side effects that you need to know. It causes excess salivation and the person usually shows a complete indifference to the people and environment around him or her. However, for behavior control, it is as good as any other antipsychotic.
